On Sunday, June 12th, The Houghton County Historical Society is offering Houghton and Keweenaw County residents 18 years of age or older, the opportunity to drive our steam locomotive. You will be shown how to operate the engine and will be under the watchful eye of the engineer. No need to worry about the gauges and valves,these will be taken care of by the engineer and fireman. The cost for this one time opportunity is $25 for once around the track. This covers the cost of membership in the Houghton County Historical Society, an insurance requirement to operate HCHS equipment. Be sure to include your choice of time between 12:00PM and 4:00PM when sending in your check with reservations. The times available each hour are; :13, :20, :43, and :50 minutes after each hour. Regular passenger runs will be on the hour and half hour. There are approximately 16 slots available so reserve your slot as soon as possible by making your check out to Houghton County Historical Society or HCHS for $25 for a single event, or add the appropriate amount for an Annual Railroad Passenger Pass (see rates above) and send your check to our address shown at the bottom of the web page.
